5-Round Grand Prix Tournament Final Bout

The last chapter in the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix for tonight's main event from the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California, culminated after a little over a year in a fight that was expected to crown a new heavyweight ruler. What fans did not expect surprisingly enough, was that a new star would be born in the division once the dust settled and Daniel Cormier had made easy work of Josh Barnett via decision.

Cavalcante started off to a great start imposing his great takedowns as well as clean punches in the 1st round. But he didn't maintain that pace letting the momentum shift over to Isaac who unloaded crisp strikes and some flying knees as he pushed the pace for the remaining two rounds.

Isaac Vallie-Flagg takes the win via split decision earning 2 scores of (29-28) with one judge having it (29-28) for Cavalcante.
